Ari Schriber

Ari Schriber is a PhD candidate in the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at Harvard focusing on twentieth-century Islamic intellectual and legal history. His research focuses on the epistemological and structural evolution of Moroccan shariʿa courts through the study of its judges (qudāt) and cases across colonial and independent Morocco (approximately 1920-1965). His contributions to SHARIAsource largely focus on key themes and moments in Moroccan Islamic legal history that mark the evolving status of shari'a in the twentieth century.
