This statute regulates the Indonesian legal profession, covering such areas as:
- the appointment, status, conduct, disbarring/retirement, and monitoring of advocates;
- the swearing of the oath;
- lawyers' code of ethics, and bar council;
- lawyers' rights and obligations;
- the provision of legal aid; and
- the employment of foreign legal advocates.
