The amendments contained within this revised statute on banking explicitly permit, as well as regulate, shari'a banking practices in Indonesia. Crucially, the statute states that Bank Indonesia (Indonesia's Central Bank) may set conditions and provisions to which banks wishing to practise shari'a banking must adhere.
