The appellant sought to challenge the decision of the Bireuen Shari'a Court, which had refused to grant her an irrevocable divorce from the respondent, and ordered her to pay costs.
The Court concurred with the lower court, stating that the appellant had failed to prove she and the respondent had continuously quarrelled, per her submissions. Accordingly, the appellant had failed to establish a reason for divorce, as required by art 19(f) of Government Regulation No. 9 of 1975, and art 116(f) of the Compilation of Islamic Laws.
