This regional regulation is an example of a legislative instrument that, arguably, Islamises public life, without making any reference to Islam or religion (agama). It places a prohibition on the production, storage, possession, consumption, supply, distribution, and sale of all types of alcholic beverage in the region (art 2). Contravention of art 2 carries a maximum penalty of six months' imprisonment and a fine of IDR 5 million (art 4(1)).
