This regional regulation places a prohibition on the production, distribution, sale, stockpiling, storage, making available, serving, using, sending, transporting, and inclusion of alcoholic beverages in Tegal, Central Java (Jawa Tengah) (art 3(1)). The regulation also prohibits being intoxicated in a public place (art 3(2)). The regulation states, in its preambular section, that alcohol is contrary to religious norms and national morals, which can disturb order and peace. Contravention of art 3 can result in a maximum prison sentence of six months or a monetary penalty of IDR 50 million (art 6(1)).
