This statute regulates the application and implementation of practices that promote, support and uphold the protection of human rights and freedoms in Indonesia. It also reiterates some of the human rights guaranteed in the 1945 Constitution and its subsequent amendments. Article 7(2) of the statute provides that international human rights laws ratified by the state 'become the responsbility of the central government'.
